Containers for Gardens

8 Main Types of Container Pots Depending on what qualities you are looking for will help determine what type would work best for you and your plant(s). 1) Clay or Terracotta  These can look very nice and classy.  They aren't too heavy which makes them moving inside to protect from harsh weather easier.  Because they are porous, they are fragile and acceptable to cracking from extreme weather and unable to take sudden impact.  This type does have the widest range of size starting from 2 inch diameter to however large you can need.  The color range goes from warm reds to browns.  These tend to be an affordable option. 2) Cement or Stone They are treated to look beautiful by glazing and/or hand painted.  These are heavy and not practical to move around.  Works well for outside and able to withstand the weather.  These pots are able to protect the roots from large temperature changes.   3) Ceramic Star...

Indoor Lighting: How much is enough?

Indoor Lighting: How much is enough?    I've been wanting to do more intense growing, and get away from plants that only need indirect lighting. If I want to get a set up that can grow plants that require more light, I'll need to know a few things.   👉Space for gardening     👉Lighting fixtures   👉Precise humidity control Space to develop a garden   First of all, I live in an apartment. I have a stepson and wife as well, so I can not use an entire room. Currently I have a table in front of my sliding glass door. This table holds my plants. The table is a little full, but with some organization I can clear some space.   Second, I have a 15 gallon fish tank that I have been holding onto. I can clear enough space off the table to hold the tank. So I will use the tank to hold my plants, and it will make sense later why I chose to use an aquarium. Lighting fixtures   How much lighting would I need to light up this tank? That...

A wreathe

Hello everyone, so one nice thing to do this time of year is to make a wreathe.  A wreathe is fairly simple to make.  If you go for a nature walk or you go to a store you can find some branches.  For a wreathe you will only need about 6 branches.  Some of the branches you could use can be from a rose bush, birch, pear branches, dogwood, or really any thin flexible branches that you find. So in my wreathe I used some cardinal dogwood branches, some pine cones that had some copper glitter on them, blue glitter snow flakes, mistletoe decorations, and one big blue bow.  I did buy all of these items All of this cost just under $20.  That is about the cost of a wreathe that you would by from the store.   So if you go out and gather your own pine cones and branches, you will spend maybe 10 dollars.  This was a pretty fun project for me to do, after all this was my first wreathe.    If you have a wreathe that you have made,...
