Make Pumpkin Pie from scratch

So, we are on a blog about growing things, yeah? Well if you grew some pumpkins, turn them into pumpkin pies! This is so easy, even I made a smash hit. Get it? Smash...smashing pumpkins...anyway. I found this recipe a few weeks ago and the time seems right. If you make this it will be a great treat...Ha ha trick or treat!  By the way I found the recipe from  http://domesticfits.com/2011/10/17/how-to-make-homemade-pumpkin-pie-from-scratch/  The author's name is Jackie. Check it out. I loved this recipe and I bet you will too. Usually, one pumpkin is enough to make a pie. 🎃Preheat your oven to 400. 🎃First, remove the stem. Use a butter knife that you don’t care about too much (it may get bent) and run it around the edge of the stem to loosen it up then pry it off with the butter knife. 🎃Then cut it in half down the middle, right through where that stem use to be. 🎃Then scoop out all the guts, seeds and strings. 🎃Then put the pumpkin, c

Pinch the plant.

For the past few months, my plants have looked good to okay. I find that it's always nice to pinch off the unwanted parts of the plants. If you haven't pinched a plant before, it is a very simple process. You can take a pair of scissors, or your fingers and simply snip, or pinch off dead or dying segments of your plant. I have a few wooded plants, and I find my scissors work much better. Also some of the hard to get spots on more fragile parts of your plant, you might want to use scissors as it is a bit easier to get in the hard to reach areas. From my reading and experience, most plants thrive when they are pinched regularly. Most of my wooded plants do much better when I take off the dead and dying parts. So last time, I transferred the coleus plant into soil. It seems to be doing okay right now, just keeping the soil moist and hopefully it will take off. Also I planted some Rosemary. I like growing my things I can use to cook with. My mint plant was great for tea

Coleus update, and new friends.

Hey again, I transferred the Coleus over to soil and it seems to be doing well so far. I also decided to grab some dragon tree seeds, and some Venus Fly trap seeds. They are planted now and in a month or two I should see some green. All of my pants are doing great right now, still looking for the right set up for an indoor green house.  Oh also, I haven't said the coolest plant that  have. It's a dwarf Jewel Orchid. Yea, it's pretty awesome. I got it right before I left the pet store from a friend. He gave me one of his pups. In the past month or so it has grown about a full inch.  I'll post some pictures later of this little beauty. But for now I'm off to do some pruning.  Take care.

My starting plants.

Hello again. So I wanted to show you my basic of basic set up that I have going on right now. I don't have too many plants right now. A couple of basic small trees. A little rubber tree. Some aloe and live moss. And the big plant there is a coleus. In the little vase there, is a clipping of my coleus. On Thursday I will be putting it in soil. I hope it's ready. The table that I have the plants on, well it has seen better days. I was just getting the sliding door behind the table ready for winter, and well one of the legs fell off.  But that is okay because it makes it all the better for my upcoming project with this. I will be turning and Armoire into an indoor green house. It should be pretty cool. That is all for today. I'll post again on Thursday when I replant the coleus.  Have a great day.    Garrett.

The start.

So, here we are. The first post. A little bit about myself. I am in my mid twenties. I also am married. I am a Step Father of a six year old. My hobbies include, well everything. I love to learn. I after delving into different hobbies, I believe I have found one that I can continue to always learn and be challenged with. Plants. Growing them and breeding them.  I started to get into plants when I worked at Petco. I started with freshwater aquatic plants. found them to be simply amazing. and then I tried my hand with plants that are not fully submerged. And that seems to be a little more...difficult. In a very good way. After a few months of tinkering and adjusting water and light levels I seem to have the swing of the common house plant.  Now I start my next step in this learning process. I move onto flowing plants and start dabbling in breeding. In the next couple of months I will be building an indoor green house so I can have flowering plants grow and thrive during the winter mont
